Kindness Grows
THE PROJECT
In 2018, the Swedish furniture company IKEA conducted an experiment on bullying at a school in the United Arab Emirates. Two identical plants were placed in separate protected containers, and each were given equal amounts of food, light and water. The ONLY difference between the two plants, was that students were told to say mean things to one plant, and kind things to the other.
Within weeks, the bullied plant was drooping and no longer growing.
The plant that received the compliments was thriving.
The IKEA experiment showed us that being bullied hurts, but kindness can help things GROW.
But, do WE grow when we perform acts of kindness too?
The Kindness Grows Project aims to prove the theory that acts of kindness or service have the power to make the world a better place, while also growing happiness
and self confidence within ourselves.
Here is how it works:
